What Grimsby Driving Does to a Car

The QEW through town

Through Grimsby the QEW is sandwiched between the escarpment and the lake, with interchanges at Casablanca Boulevard, at Christie Street, Ontario Street and Maple Avenue, and at Bartlett Avenue. Westbound, it leaves Niagara Region near the Fifty Point Conservation Area and carries on through Stoney Creek toward the Red Hill and the Skyway.

Sand on town roads

The Town of Grimsby limits road salt for environmental reasons and spreads a mix of sand and salt for traction. Sand is good for grip and hard on paint: dragged across a dirty panel by a mitt or brush, it scratches. Rinse the grit away before anything touches the paint.

Woolverton and Park Road hills

Ahead of a forecast storm, the Town treats its two steep mountain accesses, the Woolverton and Park Road hills, with an anti-icing liquid that dries as narrow beige stripes. When they cannot be kept safe it may close them, and it points drivers to Mountain Street, a Niagara Region road.

Grimsby FAQ

Common Questions

Grimsby is in Niagara. Can I still book with you?

Yes. If you are in Grimsby, you can request a quote and arrange a drop-off appointment at our Ancaster studio on a weekday.

Does sand really scratch paint?

Loose grit is the problem when something rubs it in, such as a wash mitt, a brush or a dry cloth. A thorough rinse first, then a gentle wash, keeps most of it from doing harm. Paint correction can remove fine scratches already there.

Can commuters book on a weekend?

No. We are open weekdays, 9:30 am to 4 pm, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Drop-off is by appointment.
