What Ancaster Driving Does to a Car

Highway 403 and the Linc

Highway 403 runs through Ancaster and meets the Lincoln Alexander Parkway at the top of the Niagara Escarpment before dropping down into Hamilton. Highway speed is where stone chips happen, and the front bumper, hood and mirrors take them first.

If you commute that way every day, look at front-end PPF coverage before the paint picks up its first winter of chips.

Village streets and rural roads

Away from the highway, Ancaster runs from the older village core along Wilson Street to newer neighbourhoods like the Meadowlands, and out to rural roads toward Jerseyville and Lynden. Slower roads mean fewer chips, but dust and grime build up in the lower panels and wheels.

Winter

Ancaster streets are City of Hamilton streets, so they get the city's winter treatment of rock salt, a sand and salt blend and brine (City of Hamilton, December 2017). That spray settles on the lower doors, rocker panels and wheels, and boots carry it into carpets and onto leather.

Our road salt guide explains what to do about it between visits.

Where in Ancaster are you?

We work from a private drop-off studio and do not publish a street address. Once your booking is set, we sort out the drop-off details with you directly.

Do you work on weekends?

No. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm, by appointment. Saturday and Sunday are closed.

Can I get a car to drive while mine is in?
